Fuel Cells

Fuel cells are electrochemical devices that will enable us to enjoy the benefit of electric cars - on-board generation, pollution free - without the disadvantages of batteries such as durability, range and the need for re-charging.
Using a catalyst of platinum, ruthenium and their alloys, fuel cells split hydrogen atoms to generate electricity, water and heat.

Although their commercial potential is yet to be fulfilled, current prototypes have demonstrated excellent fuel efficiency and reliability. When renewable sources are used for the hydrogen, harmful emissions are virtually zero.
