Structure

Chaired by a Board consisting of representatives from member companies, the organisation holds membership meetings twice a year, its working committees and groups meet regularly throughout the year. Currently, the IPA has three working committees: the Security Committee unites experts from the membership and discusses issues such as the identification of materials by fingerprinting procedures, safety provisions and the management of theft. The Communications Committee acts as a platform for communications experts from members and supports the IPA in communicating the values of PGMs to different audiences. A newly formed Sustainability Committee looks at sustainable development issues throughout the value chain.

Whenever necessary, the IPA forms ad-hoc working groups which have a clear mandate for a specific topic or issue. The REACH Working Group monitors the challenges and consequences of the new EU regulation, governing the Registration, Evaluation and Authorisation of Chemicals and helps the PGM industry to fulfil the requirements of this new law which will have a considerable impact on all companies wishing to put chemical substances on the EU market. All committees and working groups are headed by a chairperson who reports back to the whole membership to ensure a constant flow of information.
